Jefferson Telecom Announces Conclusion of Cellular Services

Jefferson, Iowa — Jefferson Telecom announced today that it will conclude providing cellular service and in-store cellular assistance, with its final day of service set for February 20, 2026. Jefferson Telecom will continue to operate as a strong, local provider, delivering Internet, landline, and TV services, with plans to further expand its fiber Internet footprint to serve the surrounding area well into the future.
This decision follows ongoing changes in the cellular industry after the acquisition of UScellular by T-Mobile USA, Inc. Because Jefferson Telecom is not transitioning to T-Mobile, the company has experienced increasing limitations on the services and support it is permitted to offer. Over time, these restrictions have made it more difficult to meet customer expectations and provide the level of service the community deserves.
“While this was not an easy decision, the increasing limitations on what we can and cannot do as a non-transitioning agent have created daily challenges for both our staff and our customers,” said Jamie Daubendiek, General Manager. “Ultimately, we felt this was the best path forward to reduce customer frustration and ensure clarity moving ahead.”
Jefferson Telecom has proudly served as a local UScellular agent for nearly 35 years. “It has truly been a pleasure serving our cellular customers for so many years,” Daubendiek added. “We are incredibly grateful for the trust our community has placed in us, and we appreciate the relationships we’ve built along the way.”
Current Jefferson Telecom UScellular customers do not need to take any action. Customers will continue to have cellular service through UScellular, and their service will remain active and uninterrupted.
Customers with cellular questions or who need assistance are encouraged to contact UScellular directly by dialing 611 from their device or by visiting UScellular.com for additional support.
Between now and February 20, 2026, Jefferson Telecom will continue supporting customers within the scope permitted. This includes device upgrades or additions through a direct-fulfill process for current UScellular customers, where devices are ordered online and Jefferson Telecom staff assist with phone setup and data transfers once the device arrives. Customers may also continue to receive in-store support and purchase cellular accessories.
While cellular services will be concluding, Jefferson Telecom remains strong, stable, and committed to the community. The company will continue providing fast, reliable fiber Internet and exceptional local service to Jefferson and the surrounding areas well into the future.
